Deep Tissue is a firmer manual therapy, targeting deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It is most often chosen after forest walks, strength training, or simply carrying tension from a demanding routine — where a lighter touch isn't quite enough.
Unlike our Ayurvedic therapies, Deep Tissue draws from modern manual therapy technique, and is often paired with recovery technology like compression or percussion therapy within our performance and recovery programmes.

Your therapist checks in on specific areas of tension before beginning.
Lighter strokes prepare the muscles before deeper pressure is applied.
Firmer, focused pressure addresses specific areas of tension, communicated throughout.
A gentler close helps the body settle after the deeper work.

Pairs naturally with our recovery technology sessions.

Deep Tissue appears, in some form, across most EKAM programmes.
Pressure and focus areas are shaped around you, following a conversation with your therapist about where you need it most.
Reserve your stay and our team will build Deep Tissue into your personalised programme.
Deep Tissue uses firmer, targeted pressure with modern manual therapy technique to address specific areas of muscular tension, while Abhyanga is a lighter, full-body Ayurvedic oil ritual. Both are available at EKAM depending on your goals.
Some tenderness in tight areas is normal, but the session should never be sharply painful — communicate openly with your therapist so pressure stays within your comfort.
It's well suited to guests carrying persistent tightness from posture, travel or physical activity, though we recommend discussing any chronic pain conditions with your physician first.
Most guests feel comfortable resuming light activity the same day, though some mild soreness — similar to post-exercise tenderness — can occur for a day or so afterward.
Yes, many guests pair Deep Tissue with sauna or steam sessions, either before to loosen muscles or afterward to support recovery.
Yes — it's a popular choice within Executive Performance and recovery-focused programmes for guests with demanding physical routines.
Please disclose any recent injuries during consultation; your therapist may adjust technique or recommend a gentler therapy depending on the area involved.
Sessions typically run 60 minutes, with duration and focus areas adjusted based on your specific areas of tension.
